Luckily, you don’t even have to buy a modem if you’re ordering a fiber connection. You only need a router to connect to the LAN port of your Fiber NT (ONT).
You are free to use any hardware you like, but in order to work with a fiber solution, your router should:
- be able to build up a PPP connection,
- support VLAN 10 tagging,
- have Gigabit Ethernet ports (otherwise, the speed will be limited to 100 Mbps).
If you’re not sure the device you have or are going to purchase supports the features above, we strongly recommend you choosing the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX, the modem/router that fully operates on the fiber network and that we do support: check out our guides on how to configure it for use with a fiber connection and what to do if the speed doesn’t go higher than 100 Mbps.
What about Proximus Internet Box?
Internet Box, or Home Gateway 4, is reserved exclusively for use on Proximus network. The device cannot be used on edpnet connections.
